2017 Gala: Why Cancer Care?

Our annual Gala is right around the corner, set to benefit Cancer Care this year. Specifically, we are raising funds for our new tower at Memorial Hospital North, to add a clinical trials and research space as well as space for multidisciplinary clinics.

Clinical research—clinical trials—are a vital component of the comprehensive cancer care provided by UCHealth. Every advance in cancer treatment in recent years has come out of a clinical study. The best treatments and current standards of care come from researchers asking the “what if” questions, and then moving forward to determine if the intervention will improve a clinical outcome.

The relationship between UCHealth and CU Cancer Center provides opportunities for patients to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials, which ultimately lead to better treatments. Research patients are a gift to all of us. Their participation helps us to find better treatments for cancer. Building the clinical trials and research space at Memorial Hospital North means residents in Southern Colorado are able to remain close to home while still receiving the very best in cutting edge cancer care.
