Cancer is one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat in the United States. Cancer patients with health insurance are paying higher premiums than in the past. They are also paying more for copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance.
Patients and thier families may face the following challenges because of thier cancer diagnosis:

- Increased debt
- Difficulty paying for housing, food and bills
- Bankruptcy

In response to the financial burden many of our patients experience, Memorial Hospital established the Circle of Hope Fund. This program provides cancer patients with direct financial assistance to offset the costs of the disease. Cancer survivors and their families need temporary financial support to help them mitigate the out-of-pocket costs, as well as the unpaid time off work.
In 2022 we provided 275 patients and their families with more than $134,000 in assistance. This represents a 31% increase in need from 2021.
We serve patients with more than 30 types of cancer, this represents the seven most commonly supported through the Circle of Hope fund.
