Whole Blood Resuscitation in Teller County
The Whole Blood Mission
Whole Blood Resuscitation is a groundbreaking initiative that first came to Colorado in May 2024 in Colorado Springs. Since then, El Paso County has experienced significant growth in on-scene trauma care capability. During this time, Whole Blood has changed lives with blood infusions being provided to 80 patients and 60 lives being saved.
The problem that Whole Blood Resuscitation addresses is one that impacts us all. The leading cause of death for children and adults under 46 in the United States is hemorrhagic shock, more commonly known as severe blood loss. These traumatic injuries can happen to anyone during common day-to-day activities. Whole Blood Resuscitation mitigates this risk by bringing blood transfusions to the patient via ground ambulance transportation. Through this program, lifesaving care and resources are more accessible, and geographic barriers such as distance to an appropriate trauma center are diminished.

Bringing Whole Blood to Teller County
Teller County is famous for its beautiful and enriching outdoors with fantastic recreation opportunities, drawing thousands of visitors annually. With this expansive landscape comes the unfortunate difficulty of increased commute times to healthcare services. When dealing with traumatic injuries involving blood loss, we know that every second counts. Whole Blood Resuscitation promises to make a significant impact for Teller County residents and visitors alike. With faster access to blood transfusions, the risk associated with traumatic injury is greatly diminished, which means a safer community for everyone in Teller. We are very excited for the opportunity to bring Whole Blood Resuscitation to Teller County to further protect and uplift the community!
